Gladys Inabeza and Clement Muhirwa represented Casual Payroll and were one of the three start-ups that participated in the ITU Smart Incubator Programme, a programme that supports technology-oriented entrepreneurs in the early stages. Supported by this programme they travelled to South Africa where they had the opportunity to pitch their business to an international audience.
They were selected from a jury of global leaders as the winners of the ITU Telecom Awards in the category of Best Business Model. Their business model, Casual Payroll is a smart payroll system that aims to automate payments for casual workers. It uses biometric fingerprint and face recognition to generate automated payrolls. The payment is facilitated by having it linked to each employer and employee account.
Clement, the founder of Casual Payroll, expressed his gratitude to the Smart Incubator Programme for giving him the mentorship and opportunity to be able to win this prestigious award.
Watch the award ceremony here and join us in congratulating and wishing this promising start-up a bright future.
