The ITU Smart Incubator is a programme designed to facilitate the linking of innovation to the standardization process based on the definition, promotion and adoption of ITU standards and specifications. It is aimed at start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that use advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Smart Incubator is a unique platform that combines AI with innovative applications in digital financial services and urban living. The ITU Smart Incubator offers start-ups and SMEs the opportunity to join the standardization process at a very early stage. It was established with the objective of assisting technology-oriented entrepreneurs in fields such as Smart AI, digital banking and smart cities in their early start-up and development stage
Powering Innovation through Technology Disruption
ITU Smart Incubator was launched in ITU Telecom World in 2018 with the help of Rwanda and Saudi Arabia with the objective of assisting technology-oriented entrepreneurs in the fields of Smart AI, Banking and Cities in the early start-up and development stage.
The first start-ups incubated by ITU Smart Incubator were DocRep (AI), Grinika (Smart Cities) and Casual Payroll (Banking & Blockchain)
In 2021 the Platform was rebranded and welcomed new start-ups: Higaneza (Smart Agri big Data), AppSec (Healthcare) and MagicView (Mobility).
